Free Naloxone (Narcan) Training Seminar Thursday August 16, 2018

The Counseling Center at Cherry Hill hosts Free Naloxone Training seminar. Learn how you can save a life!

Naloxone is a drug which can reverse a heroin or prescription pain pill opioid overdose, if administered promptly and correctly. The most popular brand of naloxone is Narcan®, which is available over the counter under special rules established by the State of New Jersey as part of ongoing efforts to battle the current opioid crisis.

Learn How You Could Save a Life from Overdose

This prevention seminar, funded by a grant from the State of New Jersey and provided by Urban Treatment Associates of Camden, will teach you about how naloxone works, how and when you can safely administer naloxone, and the rules governing nalxone purchase, possession, and use.

Learn the Naloxone Rules, and Know your Rights as a Good Samaritan

Did you know that naloxone can work within seconds, waking someone up from what would have been a deadly overdose if a few more minutes had passed? Did you know that NJ law requires certain actions be taken every time naloxone is administered, even by a public citizen? Did you know that Good Samaritan laws can protect you when you voluntarily intervent to try and save someone's life, but not always?

Learn the rules and learn how to save a life!

Free Narcan Kits

Free Naloxone kits will be available to participants, in accordance with regulations, and guidelines from the sponsor supplying the free kits. There are a limited number of kits, which will be distributed on-site by the seminar provider.

Getting Started
with a Clinical Assessment

The Counseling Center at Cherry Hill is an outpatient addiction treatment center for adults and adolescents seeking treatment for addiction, alcoholism, and co-occurring disorders associated with addiction and substance use. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) combines evidence-based, state of the art treatment with 12 Step principles. The IOP is an intense, focused experience designed to enable sober and productive living.

IOP may be recommended for individuals who do not require medically supervised detoxification, and who live within driving distance of the center, and for individuals who have recently completed residential treatment (rehab) and are in the early stages of recovery.

Eligibility for the IOP is based on a clinical assessment. Treatment is individualized, and full information on program options, costs, and schedules will be available after assessment.
